WCF Friends

The WCF Friends

The WCF Friends scheme was designed back in the 1990s to attract 250 sponsors each contributing £100, in order to build up a reserve fund of £25k for the WCF. There were some defined benefits up until 2000, but these have now ceased.

With interest, there is now more than £37k in the WCF Friends accounts in Australia and England. In February 2011, the WCF MC decided the following policy for the WCF Friends scheme:

Policy

the scheme is now closed to new members (or at least, not advertised as "open")
the WCF will keep this fund safe and separate for the long-term, as described in the Investment Policy. It may be that from time to time the Treasurer may recommend moving some of this fund into our other funds, provided at least £37k remains in the WCF Friends account
any such additional funds moved out of the Friends accounts should be used for Development purposes, and not for routine operations
with the greater availability of information on WCF matters on the website and in monthly newsletters, we confirm the original Friends newsletters that ceased in 2005 will not be reinstated. Other Friends benefits were due to end in 2000.
we will continue indefinitely to acknowledge the Friends on the WCF website, with a full list of the donors shown.
