Kevin Beard
(Australia)
Born: 1952

Kevin Beard is a semi-retired geneticist who has worked in the Australian dairy industry for more than 30 years. He lives in Melbourne with his wife Janet and has two young adult daughters, Sally and Catherine.
Kevin was introduced to croquet at the Brunswick Mallet Sports Club in 2000 and it quickly became an obsession. Kevin’s first major association croquet win was the Tom Howat Cup (President's 2nd 8) in 2003. He has twice been a member of the Australian A team playing New Zealand A (2005, 2008). His biggest win to date is the Australian Open Doubles Championship with Stephen Mulliner in 2008.
At the State level, Kevin won the Victorian Open Singles Championship in 2007 and 2008 and the Victorian Open Doubles Championship in 2006 (with Mike Jenner), and 2007 and 2008 (with Trevor Bassett). As well as representing Victoria in the Eire Cup on 5 occasions, Kevin has won the Victorian division of the Australian Bronze Medal in 2004 and 2007 and the Victorian Men’s Championship in 2006.
Results from association croquet tournaments further afield include being runner up in the Doubles Championship of Ireland with Gerard Healy in 2005 and winner of the Croquet Association Doubles Plate with David Goacher in 2007. In golf croquet, Kevin won both the Australian and Victorian Open Singles Championships in 2007 and 2008.
As full retirement beckons, Kevin and Janet intend to indulge in their love for travel. If Kevin plays his cards right, this will also mean more opportunities to play interstate and international tournaments.
