Owen is formerly a keen pennant tennis and squash player and squash referee. Before his retirement he was Communications Manager for a multinational company and is now the National Director of Refereeing for Croquet Australia.Has been playing since 1985 . Member Ivanhoe Park and Kew Clubs in Melbourne
Three times Australian GC Open Singles Champion 2001- 05 & 06.  and has played in the WCF GC Championships in W Palm Beach Florida, Southwick UK and Hastings NZ   and is the ACA National AC & GC Referee .
