Richard Griffiths

Richard was born in St Helier, Jersey, and has just retired from the University of Manchester after a career spent mostly in the academic side of engineering. He took up croquet  at the very end of 2002, after reading Nicky Smith’s book during a rainy holiday. Noting that there was a club at Bowdon, only 2 miles from his Manchester home, he called in one club day and was given a friendly welcome and taken through a 4-ball break on the practice lawn. Richard, who was suffering from some stress at work at the time, and needed some recreation, attributes his current good health to the therapeutic effect of the game.
