Jean-Yves began to play at 16 years old in France with a beach croquet mallet and learned Croquet with French team players. He was winner of the French junior Championship in 1990 and several times winner of the "Alpes Cup" (France, Italy, Switzerland). He represented France in the World Association Croquet Championship in 1995 and played in the European Association Croquet Championship in 2003.
