Bill Martin

Born: 1938

 

Bill MartinA graduat of  Tennessee Prep High School where he competed and earned letters in all  organized sports.  He earned a scholarship and played football for two years at Tennessee Tech.  He remained involved as a coach or a participant in some sport most of his adult life. He eventually retired from the restaurant and food service business in 1991and was introduced to competitive croquet in 1992 via the 9 wicket version.   

He was Introduced to American Six Wicket in early 1993 and played my first tournament in October that year.  Since then he has won many club, state, regional and National Tournaments that cover four versions of croquet.  His first National Championship ( 1995 ) was in Association Croquet where he won 16 of 18 games as a 1st Flight player.  Won 1st flight National Doubles Championship in 1995 ( American Rules ).  He won eight National Seniors Championships in American Rules ( 5 singles & 3 doubles ).  Played in the World Golf Croquet Championship in 2002 at the National Croquet Center and placed 17th.  He also won the USA National Golf Croquet Doubles Championship in 2006.

 

Bill is passions include being an avid fisherman and motorcyclist.
