(New Zealand)
Born: 1960
Anthony Ritchie is a composer with over 140 pieces to his credit, including music for orchestras, choirs, singers and chamber groups. His music has been widely performed and recorded, in New Zealand and overseas. He also teaches composition at The University of Otago in Dunedin, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
While he was free-lancing in the 1990s Anthony took up croquet and discovered a competitive streak in his personality which he hadn’t realized existed. He has won five New Zealand Croquet titles, including the Edwina Thompson Invitation tournament (twice). He has also won the Otago Championship six times. In 2005 and 2007 he was selected for the New Zealand ‘A’ team to play Australia.
